For maximum pain relief, proper use of Zostrix is essential. You should apply Zostrix to your painful joints 3 to 4 times daily, as directed. The first few times you use Zostrix, you might experience a burning sensation. Don't worry, that's the capsaicin working to deplete Substance P. The burning sensation should fade within a few days of regular use, as Substance P is exhausted in the treated area. Remember, don't expect results in a day or two. It takes time for the capsaicin to build up and reduce Substance P in the painful area. In a week or two, you'll feel relief. And this relief should continue as long as you continue to use Zostrix regularly and consistently.
